Don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Isn’t that the adage?
And today, we are fortunate enough to have a Minnesota PRSA chapter that provides a wide range of engaging programing and professional development opportunities.
One of those key professional development opportunities is coming up right around the corner. On March 10 and 11, Minnesota PRSA is offering a two-day comprehensive and inspiring APR Study Workshop. This Workshop is for professionals ready to take the next step in their career and for those looking for ways to improve the strategic value they bring.
This small-group, two-day course provides an overview of the key knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) covered by the APR Exam. It supports our members interested in seeking the APR to better understand the process, jumpstart your study, see sample portfolios, and get early feedback on your application and Panel Presentation questionnaire.
I know. It’s never a good time. We are all too busy with work, friends, family, volunteer commitments, kids, or __________ (fill in the blank).
But, I’ll argue that investing in you pays the highest dividends. Spending time furthering your individual and professional growth will serve you well as you navigate the exciting twists and turns of your career.
Additionally, as you well know, one of the key attributes of a communications and public relations professional is curiosity and quest for knowledge. We spend our days listening, learning, talking, reading and writing.
Seeking Accreditation in Public Relations allows us as professionals to refine those skills, build confidence and develop our capabilities to execute a larger strategy.
There are other benefits of working toward this goal as well. First, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and network with professionals across different industries and share an irreplaceable bond. Second, you’ll approach your career, your employer or your clients, both internal and external, with an even more well-rounded and higher sense of professional awareness and leadership. Third, you’ll be able to better self-assess your strengths and weaknesses—information that can help your career soar to new heights.
Invest in yourself this year and become the best version of you. Don’t you owe it to yourself to do something good for you today? Participate in the APR Study Workshop. Add earning your APR credential to your 2017 personal and professional goals.
