Last week Minnesota PRSA kicked off its
career exploration pilot program
in partnership with Metro State University. Medtronic was the first organization to host this cohort of 14 students and alumni. Below are reflections from two of the participants along with photos taken that day.
“My name is Tamara Adegbenro, and I am a professional communications major on the public relations track. I am excited to be a part of this career exploration program because I am still trying to figure out what my dream public relations job will look like. I was very impressed and happy to be a part of the trip to Medtronic career exploration. I really appreciated all the words of wisdom that were imparted on us. Something that really stuck with me was the panel that Joan Wolf hosted. She gave us a lot of good knowledge on how to be a good interviewee and how to stand out amongst fellow interviewees.”
“My name is Rachel Coleman, and I’m a junior at Metropolitan State University. I'm majoring in professional communication on the public relations track and minoring in research and information studies. When my public relations teacher mentioned this pilot career exploration program, I saw it as an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up. Not only did I finally meet my teachers and classmates for the first time, but I also got the valuable experience of listening to communication leaders at Medtronic and their journey that made them the professionals they are today. Listening to Torod Neptune, chief communication officer at Medtronic, was one of my highlights as he provided amazing insight on the importance of networking and garnering meaningful relationships throughout one’s career. I am looking forward to the next few months and all that I will learn from this program.”
