Last week the Metro State cohort was hosted by Brandpoint. The blog post below was written by cohort participant Cynthia Lettermann.

Brandpoint is the Latest Stop for the Career Exploration Pilot Program

Brandpoint invited the Career Exploration Pilot Program students to a virtual event on Nov. 17. Melissa Wexler, Vice President of PR Channel Sales, and 11 others from the company shared their stories over the course of three hours. In those stories, they demonstrated their core values as they shared their workflow.

Each speaker brought forward the company’s individual core values in their stories, along with their history and experiences. Brandpoint started in 1996 by innovating the MAT release for customer-facing consumption. This brought measurable growth to their company and their brands leading to client elation. Everyone attending brought their passion for their work, demonstrated respect for each other and their clients, and portrayed the agility that the work requires. Finally, their quality of life came through as they were all like family and were happy to be together. They owned their corporate climate.

Brandpoint’s workflow embraces those values. We seamlessly moved from Marketing to Sales, followed by Project Management, then to Design & Writing, and finally Reporting & Publisher Relations. Each speaker knew their areas of expertise and how they connected to each project.

Multiple viewpoints showed the depth of “how” Brandpoint works for their clients. The MAT release is controlled content, but they use a light touch to get results. Their use of RPIE (Research, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) and strong project management are some of the reasons why. The research also influences the intelligent use of creative and assets to great effect. Summing up the “how” is the building of relationships with the media and distributors.

I personally would like to send a shout-out to Mary Vaughn. The passion of your experiences as an intern and new hire at Brandpoint is very inspiring to me as a recent graduate entering the PR job market. Thank you for sharing.

In addition, thank you to Brandpoint’s Melissa Wexler, MaDonna Sheehy, Andy Krall, Sonya Davis, Sara Blood, Beth Wellman, David Kraft, Janelle Van Bockel, Laura Malm, Thomas Swendiman, and David Olson for taking the time to immerse our cohort in Brandpoint’s stories.

And thank you to Minnesota PRSA’s Leah Kondes, Rose McKinney, APR, Fellow PRSA, adjunct professor, and Greg Zimprich, APR, Fellow PRSA, adjunct professor, for piloting this program with Metropolitan State University.
