Digital media has changed the way we receive and assess information in the modern world. News reaches the masses within minutes and the reach of digital messages has grown exponentially. Social media has allowed everyone to have a voice. In addition, the media landscape has become increasingly polarized and biased, and the rise of ‘fake news’ has made it difficult to know what is even true anymore. Organizations and individuals are under intense scrutiny and even the smallest misstep or shirttail association can result in a public relations nightmare.

Paul Omodt, APR, will lead an interactive discussion on how new media is impacting the way we manage media relations and react to a crisis in our organizations. Together we will explore how to navigate an increasingly diverse and volatile media landscape where even the smallest incident can quickly escalate to a major crisis. Whether you’re in crisis communications, media relations or someone who just wants to better understand the current state of the media landscape, this session is for you. Come ready to learn and share as we dive into the complicated new world we live and communicate in!

Paul Omodt, ABC, APR, MBC, Owner and Principal of Omodt & Associates
Paul has nearly 30 years of high profile crisis communication experience, helping clients navigate everything from airplane crashes and product recalls to executive transitions and bankruptcies.
