Bijoch recognized for results-fueled campaigns and passion for advancing the industry

Becca Bijoch was named the 2015 Young Professional of the Year by the Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (Minnesota PRSA) at its 38th Annual Classics Awards last night. The award recognizes a young professional from the chapter who has made an extraordinary contribution to their organization, the public relations industry and the local community.

“Becca is remarkably talented, dedicated, generous and passionate – all traits that make her a very worthy recipient of this signature award,” said Jason Sprenger, APR, president of Minnesota PRSA.  “She’s established herself as a leader in our chapter and our community, and made a significant impact on many individuals and organizations, in a relatively short time.  I’m excited to see what the future holds for her.”

As a senior publicist at Lola Red, Bijoch creates buzz, ignites brand awareness and drives home results, both locally and on a national scale. Since starting at the agency in 2009 as an intern, Bijoch has worked with clients such as Chuck & Don’s, Creative Kidstuff and Smashburger.

Over five years, she has helped grow the agency from two employees and four interns to twelve team members and twice the annual revenue. She was also an instrumental team member in opening Lola Red’s Boulder office.

Bijoch was the lead account member who won the Sphero business and led the strategy and execution of the award-winning BB-8 by Sphero product launch for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Force Friday launch. The campaign generated more than 213 million impressions and placements in major top-tier media outlets including New York Times, Wall Street Journal, TODAY show, Good Morning America, CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Popular Science, CNET, The Verge, Mashable, Parents magazine and more.

Jeron Udean, vice president of Strother Communications Group, nominated Bijoch for this award.  He wrote, “Based on my experience with Becca as a member of the student relations committee, particularly as co-chairs in 2015, I’ve found her to be extremely passionate about strengthening the Minnesota PRSA chapter by building stronger connections with students interested in pursuing public relations as a career.”

In addition to serving as a mentor to the Lola Red team, Bijoch mentors a student every school year through the Minnetonka High School Vantage program.

Bijoch has a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations from Saint Cloud State University. As a student at Saint Cloud State, she served as PRSSA chapter president.
