Current Volunteer Opportunities
Share |

There’s a range of opportunities available* – both short-term projects and longer-term volunteer needs – across most of our committees.

Following is a brief overview of the committees that currently need members, including some that have specific skillsets they’re seeking. For more information on any of our committees, please review committee descriptions.

Please contact  Holli Henderson at to learn more about the volunteer opportunity or to be connected with the committee co-chair.

 *Availability is subject to change.

Professional Development and Networking

The Professional Development and Networking committee develops cutting-edge, enriching programming that helps members develop their skills and bolster their networks. This committee is dedicated to programming that helps professionals stay ahead of the latest trends, hear experts in related fields and prepare themselves for the future of our profession. Expectations of committee members:

  • Lead at least one event in 2018 or assist as a co-chair
  • Solidify/connect venue, speakers (the 2018 calendar with suggestions will be solidified by the new year)
  • Write the event communication
  • Update Programming Co-chairs on status of projects/needs

Help us promote membership in the Minnesota chapter of PRSA. This committee reaches out to public relations professionals and recent public relations graduates who are currently not members of PRSA. We also work on:

  • Member retention programs
  • Special programs for new members to help them understand chapter opportunities

Promote APR (Accredited in Public Relations) as a mark of distinction for professionals. Volunteers must be current APRs if they are mentoring candidates. Non-APRs interested in event planning, promotion and other administrative tasks are also welcome. Needs include:

  • Motivating non-APR chapter members to pursue APR and prepare for the APR exam
  • Coach or mentoring APR candidates throughout the process
  • Planning study workshops and promoting accreditation

Help plan the 2018 Classics Awards Banquet. Available roles include:

  • Event logistics: Identify a location for the annual banquet and work directly with the event coordinator at the selected location to plan all details of the banquet – including, but not limited to: event flow, layout of the space, food & beverage options, etc.
  • Hardware coordinator: Work with awards vendor partner to confirm the total number of trophies needed, copy to etch into each and delivery timeline; Hardware coordinator is not a time intensive position so we encourage this chair to provide ongoing support to other committee chairs from September through January leading up to the banquet.

Career Center

New for 2018! Coordinate and plan quarterly “Career Coffees”. The coffees will be low key, member-only (plus a guest) free events and serve as a place for members to come together and discuss a specific career related topic. An expert would lead the discussion and share expertise.
