ST. PAUL, Minn. (October 30, 2025) – The Minnesota chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (Minnesota PRSA) was awarded second place in the annual National PRSA Chapter Diversity Awards at PRSA’s ICON conference in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

The awards are given to chapters that embody and demonstrate key values in diversity, equity and inclusion, and that contribute to advancing diversity as shown by submissions of their best practices and/or case studies. Minnesota PRSA’s entry showcased the chapter’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through programming like the annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forum, virtual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Chats and board and committee co-chair training and ongoing learning.

“This recognition is a testament to the intentional work our chapter has done to center diversity, equity and inclusion in everything we do,” said Sarah Bhimani, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for Minnesota PRSA. “From our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Forum to our ongoing learning opportunities, we strive to create spaces where all voices are heard and valued. We know the work is never finished, and we remain committed to listening, learning and leading with equity.”

This is Minnesota PRSA’s fourth time being recognized with a Chapter Diversity Award. The chapter previously won first place in 2020 and 2023 and second place in 2024.

PRSA at the national level has made its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion unwavering. In recent years, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives have become vastly criticized and often weaponized, leading to confusion among the general public. This has resulted in companies and organizations reconsidering or even retreating from their commitments due to shifting political and social pressures. As noted in its Position on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for PRSA and PRSSA Members, “despite these challenges, PRSA remains steadfast in the belief that diversity, equity and inclusion is not a passing trend—it is fundamental to the future of public relations, business and society.”

“We’re honored to be recognized once again for our chapter’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Betsy Anderson, president of Minnesota PRSA. “This award reflects the dedication of our volunteers and leadership team, who continue to prioritize inclusive programming and meaningful dialogue even during times of uncertainty. We believe that fostering a diverse and welcoming community strengthens our profession and our impact.”

The Buffalo/Niagara chapter received first place honors and the Orlando chapter received third place honors.

The Chapter Diversity Awards were presented at PRSA’s ICON Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Celebration. Photos from the award ceremony and more information are available on Minnesota PRSA's website.
