PRSSA has announced the addition of two new collegiate chapters, including one at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn., marking an exciting milestone for students pursuing careers in strategic communication.
The Bethel University chapter joins the organization’s growing network dedicated to preparing future public relations professionals. Students will benefit from hands-on learning opportunities and access to industry mentors as part of the university’s School of Business and Communication. Bethel’s strategic communication track offers core public relations courses and electives in corporate communication, event management and leadership, complemented by a social media minor focused on content strategy and creation.
The chapter will be guided by faculty adviser Betsy Anderson, Ph.D., APR, immediate past president of the Minnesota PRSA Chapter, and professional adviser Karen Lyons, APR. Anderson noted that students were first introduced to PRSSA through Minnesota PRSA’s PR North event, where they connected with peers, engaged with young professionals and participated in mock interviews. Looking ahead, the chapter plans to volunteer at the Midwest District Conference this summer and deepen ties with the professional community.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our students to gain real-world experience and build lasting connections,” Anderson said.
PRSSA also launched a chapter at Coastal Carolina University.
