To our PRSA members:
We’re always looking to increase member value and ensure that the work we do as a chapter is relevant to you throughout your career. To help make sure we are meeting and exceeding the mark, we conducted a survey late last year to gain insight into what you want from your Minnesota PRSA membership.
Here are some key takeaways and what we’re doing to address your feedback:
You would like us to focus on networking opportunities, along with providing timely and relevant programming on key industry topics.
We agree! One of the key values of Minnesota PRSA is the connections you make. COVID-19 has made it more challenging; however, we’ve been experimenting with Zoom breakout rooms to help people make those connections. We are also partnering with organizations like
IABC for social opportunities and programming options. We are looking at ways we can do even more of that throughout 2021 with the hope of being able to safely come together later in the year.
You’d like to see us promote events and resources from PRSA National.
The National arm of PRSA provides a wealth of resources for its members, including networking groups across the country, online events and helpful toolkits to use with your teams and clients.
We will continue to promote upcoming National PRSA events and build on the great work they do with webinars. We’ll also continue to point you in the way of relevant resources available.

You are proud of our Diversity and Inclusion efforts as a chapter.
The Minnesota PRSA Chapter is a national leader in driving the conversation around Diversity and Inclusion. We were thrilled that you’re also proud of our D&I efforts. As we laid out in our
strategic plan, one of our goals is to diversify our organization’s professional network and be intentional in our actions to increase diversity and inclusion.
We will continue to include more thought leadership that addresses this important topic, such as our upcoming March 19 event –
Covering the Chauvin Trial: The Roles of Journalists, PR and Communications Professionals – later this month where Minnesota PRSA D&I Officer, Marsha Pitts-Phillips, will facilitate a conversation with journalists who have worked on the frontlines of big trials and are slated to cover the Chauvin trial, and a former journalist turned PR pro.
You gave us a lot of great topic ideas to consider in the future.
You shared that you are interested in a bit of everything, including foundational PR skills, crisis communications and how to manage reporters in this new era of media. You are urging us to stay relevant, and we will continue to do so. We have events coming up that will address the future of work after COVID, mental health, PR best practices and more.
