Do you ever wonder if you belong or feel afraid you aren't talented or good enough? Imposter Syndrome is common in high achievers, with some estimates suggesting as many as 70% of successful people experience imposter syndrome causing self-doubt, stress, anxiety and depression.
During this Career Coffee, we explored the roots of imposter syndrome, the common ways it manifests and strategies for overcoming it. We heard from industry experts as well as individuals who have successfully navigated their own experiences with imposter syndrome. We discussed practical strategies for building confidence and managing self-doubt, including tips for reframing negative self-talk, setting achievable goals and seeking support and feedback from others.
This Career Coffee is for anyone who has struggled with imposter syndrome, whether in their personal or professional life. Whether you're a student, a young professional just starting out or an established leader, you'll come away from this session with a deeper understanding of imposter syndrome and practical strategies for overcoming it.

Julie Goulette, Assistant Account Executive at Bellmont Partners
Julie Goulette brings years of communications experience to the Bellmont Partners team, working within the Tourism and Hospitality practice group. She focuses on telling stories and bringing people together through media relations, social media, event planning and execution and writing and research. She has enjoyed helping bring ideas and campaigns to life for clients across the industry. Julie holds a degree in Psychology from Luther College and is a member of Minnesota PRSA. She was the 2023 recipient of Minnesota PRSA’s Rising Star Award.

During their tenure as the Volunteer Services Coordinator at Project for Pride in Living (PPL), he built strong relationships, implemented innovative recruitment strategies and developed impactful content for internal and external use.
Marsha Pitts-Phillips, APR, President and Founder of MRPP and Associates Communications
Marsha is an accomplished communications leader with extensive experience in media and public relations including executive communications and media training; strategic planning; crisis communication management; communicating through a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) lens; project management and budget oversight; television/radio broadcasting; communications education; and public speaking.
Prior to starting MRPP & Associates Communications, Marsha served as the public and media relations leader for Greater Twin Cities United Way for more than a decade. As a former broadcast journalist, she understands the rapidly changing news media environment and the importance of quality storytelling. She has a proven record of raising an organization’s profile through innovation, leadership and planning.
Marsha’s experience includes several large-scale public relations efforts – serving on the communications team for the 2022 opening of First Independence Bank, Minnesota’s first Black-owned bank, and the NFL-Sanctioned Super Bowl LVII Gospel Celebration broadcast on BET. In addition, she has provided crisis communication expertise to several Twin Cities-based companies and government institutions.
Marsha believes in high standards for the community and her board service includes Prepare + Prosper; the Leadership Advisory Council of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS); a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Phi Omega Chapter; and two terms on the Ripley Memorial Fund/Women's Foundation of Minnesota. Among her professional affiliations are the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); Minnesota PRSA, secretary/treasurer and served as the chapter’s first diversity, and inclusion officer; the National Black Public Relations Society; the National Association of Black Journalists Media-Related Members Task Force (NABJ-MRMTF); and its local affiliate, the Twin Cities Black Journalists.
Marsha was recognized as a Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ) 2023 Twin Cities Black Leader; a 2022 MSBPJ “Women in Business” honoree; a recipient of the Public Relations Society of America’s highest honor for exemplary work in diversity, equity and inclusion – the D. Parke Gibson Award; and the Minnesota PRSA Donald G. Padilla Community Excellence Award for outstanding leadership and contributions to the public relations profession and to the mission of PRSA and for efforts toward making the Twin Cities community better.
Marsha has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.; attended Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Conn., and United Theological Seminary (formerly located in New Brighton, MN). In addition, she is an ordained minister, serving in leadership capacities at her church.
